Following their first independently released EP, ‘Eighteen’, their debut single, ‘Against the Odds / I’ll Make You Feel So Alive’, recorded and produced with renowned producer and engineer George Shilling (Primal Scream, Bernard Butler, Teenage Fanclub, Paul Weller), and their follow-up ‘All Her Words‘ digital EP in 2015, Rosetta Fire continued to take their eclectic sound to new fans in 2017 with the release of their ‘On The Line’ EP, featuring the single ‘Mr Telephone’.
All four EP tracks, including the single, were once again recorded and produced with George Shilling at Bank Cottage Studios in Great Wolford, Warwickshire, with a promo video for lead single Mr Telephone directed by Andrew Scott-Marshall (Placebo, Skunk Anansie).
Ant Gliddon (vocals) and Jimmy Lapworth (guitar, vocals) have played together as Rosetta Fire since 2009, with a full band line up of Emily Knight (bass), Matt Ball (keys/guitar) and Andy Wheeler (drums).
The band continue to receive airplay and endorsement from BBC Introducing in Coventry & Warwickshire, having been BBC Introducing ‘Band of the Month’ for the region and playing the BBC Introducing stage at Wychwood Festival in Cheltenham.
In November 2016, Rosetta Fire were the only band invited to play at TedX in Leamington Spa, part of a global network of events aimed at spreading good ideas through talks and performances.
Their first full band appearance of 2017 was at Leamington Peace Festival, where they performed Mr Telephone and other forthcoming EP tracks to a crowd that got on its feet to dance on one of the hottest days of the year.
Rosetta Fire will continue to showcase their unique brand of pop melodies, jazz inspired hooks, funk rhythms and folk rock vibes in venues around the UK in 2018, playing newly composed material in their live shows and honing their signature sound.
Their blend of tight harmonies, strong melodies and memorable lyrics with an added pinch of optimism are trademark Rosetta Fire, with each new song showing a flash of creative brilliance from a band with an unorthodox sound.
“Don’t let your mind become a defeatist,
Just set your mind on becoming the greatest,
The cynics will say you’ll never make it,
The psychics will say you’ve already made it!”
“Stop dreaming”, people who say that are blaspheming,
They’re doing nine-to-five and moaning,
And they don’t want you succeeding when they’ve blown it!”
“Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew,
When I bit off more than I could chew,
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out,
I faced it all and I stood tall,
And did it my way!”
“You better lose yourself in the music, the moment,
You own it, you better never let it go,
You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow,
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime!”
